Bye Aerospace Remains Contender In Electric Aircraft

Updates Projects, Announces New Products

Bye aerospace updated their efforts on the eFlyer and announced two new projects in the works. The eflyer II is the first electric powered aircraft certified under part 23 and is aimed primarily at flight schools. Bye Aerospace is no offering the G500TXi instrument panel in the newest aircraft.

Bye aerospace announced the eFlyer IV, an 860 lb payload, 200 kt, 4 seat electric aircraft now in the design phase. Very few details were made available for this model or on the company website.

Bye Aerospace also announced the eFlyer 800, a multi engine aircraft targeting the light twin market.

Company specifications are:

  • The eFlyer 800 design is entirely new, from tip to tail
  • 8 seats (up to 7 passengers)
  • Aerodynamic efficiency is twice that of a typical legacy turboprop aircraft of similar size. High overall propulsive system efficiency with high motor efficiency with low cooling drag
  • Two wing-mounted electric motors each with dual redundant motor windings and quad-redundant battery packs
  • Quad-redundant battery packs
  • Full airplane parachute

Potential features include:

  • Emergency auto-landing system
  • Intelligent algorithm ensuring envelope protection, terrain avoidance and routing for emergency auto-land
  • Option for supplemental power solar cells
  • Option for in-wheel electric taxi

The eFlyer 800 is a sleek airplane and hopes to be a major player in the electric powered aviation market.
