Boeing Delivers 44 Commercial Aircraft in June

Highest Monthly Total Since 737 MAX Door Blowout

Boeing’s 44 aircraft deliveries in June were the most since the 737 MAX production slowdown following the blowout of a door plug on an Alaska Airlines flight in January. The deliveries included 35 of the 737 family, all were MAX models save one P-8 military variant. Others were five 777 cargo carriers and three 787 Dreamliners One 767 went to its defense division for conversion into an aerial tanker.

The good news for Boeing was overshadowed by the 67 jet deliveries by rival Airbus, 53 of which were the A320neo narrowbody model that is the MAX’s direct competitor. Second-quarter deliveries were up to 92 commercial aircraft, a slight improvement from the 83 first-quarter deliveries.

Company executives are optimistic that deliveries of 737 during the second half of the year will boost company finances and will approach the 38-per-month limit imposed by U.S. regulators after the door incident. Boeing is facing tighter regulatory scrutiny and multiple investigations of its safety processes and has had to increase the number of supplier inspections. The FAA will not lift the limit until it is convinced quality controls meet its  demands and the supply chain is sufficient to meet higher production levels.
