Concorde Nose Worth Big Bucks

Concorde frenzy seems to know no end. A London auction of Concorde memorabilia pulled in some heavy dollars... well ahead of the most flighty expectations. The crown jewel of the show, though, was the very nose of the Concorde, itself.

Retired in October, the nose cone was auctioned off to a Hungarian-born bidder by the name of Ferenc Gaspar, who claims he got the bargain of the event... for only $551,600!

The price was ten times that expected, but the US based civil engineer is but one of many who bid heavily on the speedy souvenirs that defined an aeronautical generation.

Among the 128 lots auctioned were a Mach Indicator, which went for over $48,000, a captain's seat for nearly $45K and a scale model of the bird that sold for over $29K.

Proceeds of he auction are being donated to charity. Approximately $1.3 million dollars was raised.
