Raytheon To Modernize F-15 Radar Systems

Boeing Awards Contract To Upgrade Strike Eagles

A system design and development award from Boeing will allow Raytheon to launch its latest active electronically scanned array radar program for the US Air Force, the company announced Thursday.

The F-15E radar modernization will incorporate AESA technology developed by the company for the Air Force F-15C and the Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet, currently on deployment.

"Maintaining the momentum on our high-performance AESA programs is critical because it results in technological advances that will keep our aviators at the cutting edge of combat operations today and in the future," said Dr. Tom Kennedy, vice president for Tactical Airborne Systems.

Since selection by Boeing last November, the AESA team has been working on some early software and design development initiatives, according to Kennedy.

"The F-15E is the backbone of the Air Force," said Mark Bass, Boeing F-15 vice president. "The addition of an AESA radar, along with other planned technology insertions and system upgrades, will ensure the F-15E remains the mainstay of the Air Force for decades."
