ANN EIC Jim Campbell Named To Sun 'N Fun Board Of Directors

John Leenhouts: 'All Is Forgiven, He Can Remove The Ankle Bracelet'

Aero-News April 1 Special Edition

It's no secret that Aero-News has had a bit of a roller coaster relationship with the Sun 'n Fun Fly-In held each spring in Lakeland Florida, but it would appear that things are once again on the upswing.

In a news release. Sun 'n Fun president and CEO John Leenhouts announced April 1 that Aero-News CEO and Editor in Chief Jim Campbell has also been named Executive Director for the organization. The two will share responsibility for long-range planning for the event.

"All is forgiven. Jim can finally remove the ankle bracelet we have required him to wear so we can keep track of his location on the field for the past several years," Leenhouts said. "Aero-News employees and stringers are also free to move about the airfield without their official handlers. We want to build a good relationship with this important aviation media outlet."

"I'm thrilled and excited to be honored with this appointment." Campbell said. "This is a great event, and we want to make central Florida a true GA and sport aviation hub. I have a lot of ideas to strengthen the event and the organization."

An official announcement is planned for the first day of the show tomorrow.
