Parker Hannifin To Build Trent 1000 Fuel Systems

Integral Part Of Boeing's New 787

Parker Hannifin Corp. has been awarded the fuel system for the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine, planned for the Boeing 7E7 (make that 787) Dreamliner. The value of business for Parker exceeds $190 million. Parker has also been named to provide the hydraulic subsystem and other equipment for the aircraft.

Parker's Gas Turbine Fuel Systems Division, with headquarters in Mentor, Ohio, will manage the complete system, including the design and manufacture of fuel atomization nozzles.

"We are delighted to have been selected by Rolls-Royce to provide the critical fuel system for this important new engine," said Frank Nichols, group vice president of fluid management & control systems. "The Trent 1000 will be a key factor in the significantly increased fuel efficiency offered by the 7E7."

The Trent 1000 is the fifth generation of the Rolls-Royce Trent family and will feature the same three-shaft architecture as its Trent predecessors, with 35 million hours of service experience. This low-risk engine design, coupled with an enhanced-development test program, will help the Trent 1000 deliver consistent reliability and durability.

Boeing plans to replace its 757 and 767 aircraft with the 7E7 and anticipates a need for 3,500 aircraft in the 7E7 market segment over the next 20 years.
