Boeing's Top 737 Exec Retiring After 30 Years

Will Be Replaced By Eric Lindblad, 777X VP

Scott Campbell is planning to retire from Boeing after 30 years with the company. Campbell is the program and site manager for the Renton factory where the company manufactures its workhorse 737 airliner.

Bloomberg reports that Campbell's replacement will be Eric Lindblad, who is heading up the 777X program. The change was announced in a memo sent to Boeing employees Wednesday.

Until Campbell's retirement at the end of the year, he and Lindblad will work together to get production of the 737 back on track. Dozens of 737s are sitting on the tarmac in Renton waiting for engines and other critical parts that have been delayed by issues in the supply chain.

In the memo, Boeing commercial airplane division chief Kevin McAllister said Campbell talked to him about retiring at the end of the year to spend more time with his family. "I asked him to stay on a bit longer," McAllister said. "We're fortunate that he's agreed to stay through the end of the year actively engaged to see the 737 recovery plan through.

Lindblad will be replaced on the 777X program by Josh Binder, who previously worked at Boeing Research and Technology.
