Spirit AeroSystems And Its Employees Contribute $30,000 To NC Flood Relief

Donations Made To The American Red Cross

Spirit AeroSystems and its employees are contributing $30,000 to the American Red Cross for flood relief efforts in North Carolina. Almost 600 people work at Spirit's facility in Kinston, NC, building fuselage sections and wing spar components for the Airbus A350 XWB.

"This natural disaster hit close to home," said John Beilman, chair of the Kinston Good Neighbor Fund. "Thousands of people in this region have been affected by the widespread flooding and will need help with cleanup. This is exactly what the Spirit Good Neighbor Fund was designed to do — provide help to our friends, neighbors, co-workers and communities when they need it most."

Spirit's employee-run Good Neighbor Fund (GNF) contributes to nonprofit organizations in U.S. communities where the company operates and is funded entirely through employee contributions. Both the Kinston and Wichita Good Neighbor Funds contributed to the North Carolina flood relief effort, and Spirit matched the GNF gift dollar for dollar.

At this time, it is unknown how many Spirit employees were personally impacted by the flooding. Spirit's Kinston site was shut down for more than 48 hours due to loss of power from Hurricane Matthew. Power was restored Monday and employees began returning to work Monday evening.
