AD: Airbus SAS Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2019-19-07

PRODUCT: All Airbus SAS Model A300 series airplanes; Airbus SAS Model A300 B4-600, B4-600R, and F4-600R series airplanes, and Model A300 C4-605R Variant F airplanes (collectively called Model A300-600 series airplanes); and Airbus SAS Model A310 series airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by a report indicating that the trimmable horizontal stabilizer (THS) actuator ball nut trunnion lower attachment was missing parts.

This AD requires a one-time detailed inspection of the THS actuator right-hand spherical bearing and retaining parts (bolt, tab washer, and end cap) for correct installation of the retaining parts and correct bolt position, and applicable corrective actions, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference.

DATES: This AD is effective November 5, 2019.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 128 airplanes of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

Required Actions

  • Labor: 2 work-hours × $85 per hour = $170 per airplane

On-Condition Costs

  • Labor: 2 work-hours × $85 per hour = $170 per airplane

The FAA has received no definitive data that would enable the agency to provide parts cost estimates for the on-condition repairs specified in this AD.
