NBAA Applauds Committee Vote For Michael Graham

Second Term NTSB Nomination Advances To Full Senate

The National Business Aviation Association welcomed the vote of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation approving Michael Graham for a second five-year term on the National Transportation Safety Board, and advancing his nomination to the full Senate for a confirmation vote.

Graham is a staunch advocate for aviation safety who was nominated by President Donald Trump to a second term, and who engages frequently on industry safety matters with NBAA and the business aviation community.

Ed Bolen, President and CEO of NBAA commented, “At a time when safety remains a top concern across the aviation community and the general public, it is imperative that we have highly knowledgeable, steadfast professionals like Mike Graham to help lead the charge. We thank the committee for recognizing his longtime service to the aviation community and look forward to his continued service at the NTSB upon his confirmation by the Senate.”

Bolen wrote a letter of support to the Committee that said, “As the NTSB prepares for the next phase of innovation in mobility, Mr. Graham will ensure America remains a leader in transportation safety. His commitment reflects NBAA’s longstanding dedication to ensuring business aviation operates at the highest levels of safety and efficiency. We urge the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and the U.S. Senate to confirm Mr. Graham’s nomination as soon as possible.”

Before joining the NTSB in January 2020, Graham had a 20-year career at Textron Aviation where he ultimately became the Director of flight operations safety, security, and standardization. He also initiated the company’s Aviation Safety Action Program which has been the model for Part 91 operators.

Graham regularly participates in NBAA’s Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (BACE) and other events held by the association. He previously served as the chair of the NBAA Safety Committee’s Single Pilot Safety Working Group.

Graham is a 10,000 hour pilot, holding an airline transport pilot certificate and is type rated in 6 different Citation models. He began his career in the U.S. Navy flying A-7s and F/A-18s. He received the Top Eleven Award two times for best landing grades aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.
