Airborne 08.28.23: DoJ v SpaceX, Boom Readies For Flight Test, Montaer 4-Place

Also: WI Airport Threatened, RIP: Creighton King, That's All Brother, Clifford Henderson Trophy

Alleging the world-leading orbital space-launch provider’s hiring practices discriminate against asylum seekers and refugees, the Biden DOJ has sued SpaceX.

In a statement, the DOJ set forth: “The lawsuit alleges that, from at least September 2018 to May 2022, SpaceX routinely discouraged asylees and refugees from applying and refused to hire or consider them, because of their citizenship status, in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act.” the Justice Department said in a statement. Boom Supersonic, the American company about the highly-speculative business of designing and producing a supersonic airliner dubbed the Boom Overture, has reportedly achieved a number of milestones vis-à-vis the development of its XB-1 Baby Boom—a one-third-scale technology demonstrator. Montaer Aeronaves unveiled a follow-up to its 2-seat MC-01 Aircraft, with a 4-seater sporting IFR-ready avionics and a parachute -- just in time to take advantage of some of the benefits that are reportedly coming our way thanks to MOSAIC. The all-metal, high-wing, tricycle geared MC-04 sports a Rotax 916 iS with all 160 turbocharged ponies under the hood, granting it a 132-knot cruise for 800 nautical miles. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne-Unlimited!!!
