Airborne 05.04.15: NBAA Acts On E Hampton, NASA's Messenger, Another 'Carplane?'

According to the NBAA, town officials are poised to implement a set of noise and access restrictions that the association has warned are unfair, unreasonable and unjustly discriminatory.

Town officials have developed a list of what they define as noisy aircraft which includes many jets and most helicopters. Steve Brown, NBAA chief operating officer said, "As a public-use airport receiving federal funds, East Hampton is bound by grant assurances and other regulations that require it to operate within compliance with federal aviation law and policy." A NASA planetary exploration mission came to a planned, but nonetheless dramatic, end last Thursday when it slammed into Mercury’s surface at about 8,750 mph and created a new crater on the planet’s surface. A German company has unveiled a prototype of the latest entry into the quest for a truly roadable aircraft. Called a… Carplane, the company of the same name has been working on the concept since 2012. The Carplane's two occupants sit in individual cockpits, and the wings fold up in between the cockpits in its road configuration. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
