Voice Alert Sidesteps Noise-Canceling Headsets

Some Sounds, Ya Just Ought to Hear!

With the abundance of headsets now being worn in general aviation aircraft, some pilots are finding their sensitivity to stall or gear warnings compromised. This is especially true if the pilot is wearing an ANR or noise-canceling headset, which is intended to eliminate all noise from the cockpit. The effectiveness of headsets has created a safety issue that Aircraft Components has eliminated with their Voice Alert system.

Designed to provide pilots with verbal warnings that come through headsets, Voice Alert makes sure audio messaging about stalls or gear conditions gets to the pilot in a loud and clear form.

Click to EnlargeThe system ties into the existing aircraft stall horn and gear horn if the aircraft is retractable. Whenever the existing aircraft horns sound off, the pilot will hear an instantly-recognizable voice message through his headset. The messages are appropriate to stall or gear conditions.

The Voice Alert is STC-PMA approved and comes as a complete kit for easy installation. One system works in both fixed gear and retractable gear aircraft. Aircraft Spruce is selling the Voice Alert system (P/N 10-00394) for $365, complete.
