Ducommun Incorporated Completes Acquisition of BLR Aerospace

Boundary Layer Research Speedily Acquired by Engineering Company

BLR Aerospace, an aerodynamic research company, has been purchased by Ducommun, an umbrella company providing aerospace-centered engineering and manufacturing.

The completed acquisition was fairly quick, by most corporate standards. The signed agreement was announced on March 21, 2023, a little over a month before the completed changeover. BLR Aerospace, formerly Boundary Layer Research, manufactures a line of aerodynamic modifications like their FastFin system and similar flow modification equipment. Their acquisition will enhance the Cucommun portfolio with a lineup of winglet systems, propellers, and aero aids. Ducommun bills itself as “a global provider of manufacturing and engineering services” that sports a focus on “developing innovative electronic, engineered and structural solutions for complex applications in aerospace, defense and industrial markets.”

“I am pleased that the acquisition has now closed and would like to welcome the BLR team to Ducommun,” said Stephen G. Oswald, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ducommun Incorporated. “BLR’s product offerings further strengthens our engineered products portfolio at the company and adds as well very important aftermarket business.”

The Ducommun portfolio now includes MAGSEAL, certified thermoplastics, human-machine interfaces, motors & resolvers, RF products, and lightning diversion systems, among other niche applications.
