One Fatally Injured In Alaska Accident

Two Survive When Aircraft Went Down At Fairbanks International Airport

One person sustained fatal injuries Thursday when an airplane identified by local media as a Cessna 150 went down off the south end of Fairbanks International Airport (PAFA). Media reports indicate there were three people on board.

The Daily News-Miner reports that airport representative Angie Spear said "all three occupants received injuries and were transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital." No details about the pilot or passengers were provided.

The aircraft reportedly went down just after takeoff at the south end of taxiway C about 1800 local time, according to Spears. The accident shut down the main runway at Fairbanks for about 20 minutes.

An NTSB investigator was on the scene within an hour, according to the report.
