Pipistrel Sinus FLEX Aircraft Is Two Airplanes In One

Company Says Conversion From A Cruiser To A Motorglider Takes Ten Minutes

Pipistrel is releasing the first of the new Pipistrel Sinus FLEX aircraft to the U.S. market this week at AirVenture. Based on the standard Pipistrel Sinus aircraft with a 50-foot wingspan the Sinus FLEX has the ability to remove the outer wingtips and fit smaller wingtips to configure the aircraft the same as the 40 foot Virus aircraft. The option essentially gives you to aircraft in one.

Pipistrel says the airplane is "a fantastic soaring aircraft to extend your flying skills trying to stay aloft on ridge lift and thermals," which in less than 10 minutes can be converted to a super economical and comfortable cruiser with a 40-foot wingspan.

The shorter wings also make the aircraft much easier to hanger.

The new Sinus FLEX can be ordered now, with the first aircraft arriving in the USA in about a month.

Meanwhile, the company is also offering new cockpit options on its LSA aircraft.

Based on knowledge gained during the development of the four-seat Pipistrel Panthera, Pipistrel has taken the technology and lessons learned to develop a completely new seat design for their LSA airplanes. The new leather seats can be supplied for any existing aircraft.
