Announce Orders For The Powerplant Reaching 171 Units
Engine orders for A320neo family aircraft are being announced
this week at the Singapore Air Show. Two of the early announcements
came from Go Airlines and TransAsia Airways, both of which have
selected Pratt & Whitey PurePower PW1100G-JM engines.
Budget carrier Go Airlines (GoAir) has ordered the powerplants
for it 72 firm A320neo aircraft. The agreement represents 144
PW1100G-JM engines and is anticipated to include a PureSolution
maintenance package. Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2016.
"We selected the Pratt & Whitney PurePower engine because we
are confident that its performance advantage will deliver
significant savings in operating costs, as well as considerable
reductions in emissions and noise," said Jeh Wadia, managing
director, GoAir. "The PurePower engine is the best long-term
solution for GoAir's growing fleet."
TransAsia Airways has selected the engines to power its order of
six firm and six option A321neo aircraft. The deal includes a
10-year PureSolution maintenance service agreement for 27 engines,
including spare and option engines. Deliveries are scheduled to
start in 2017. "We are truly honored that TransAsia selected IAE
and Pratt & Whitney to power its new A321 aircraft fleet," said
Todd Kallman, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines & Global
Services president. "We look forward to growing our relationship
even further with the delivery and service of these new dependable
engines."
TransAsia Airways also selected International Aero Engines'
(IAE) V2500 engine to power its order for six A321 standard
aircraft.
The PurePower engine uses an advanced gear system allowing the
engine's fan to operate at a different speed than the low-pressure
compressor and turbine. The combination of the gear system and an
all-new advanced core delivers the fuel efficiency and
environmental benefits.
