iFly EFB Integrates SayWeather To Its Platform

Enhances Automated Weather And Situational Awareness For Pilots

Adventure Pilot, provider of the electronic flightbag (EFB) application iFly EFB, announced it has integrated SayWeather, an automated weather reporting system, into its iFly EFB platform. The integration is intended to bring enhanced situational awareness while promoting safety and efficiency for pilots.

SayWeather is a development of Connectsix LLC, and offers reliable and affordable weather advisories similar to Automated Weather Observation Systems (AWOS) for airports. The system uses calibrated weather data from on-airport sensors to deliver clear and non-distracting surface-weather advisories to pilots. Pilots need only to key their mic four times to access the advisories.

SayWeather responds with an up-to-the-minute audio report that includes winds, temperature and dew point, altimeter, density altitude, and optional visibility, present weather, sky condition, and ceiling.

No special equipment or modifications are needed, any VHF-equipped aircraft can access a SayWeather airport’s weather advisory.

Larry Langebrake, co-Founder of Connectsix LLC said, “We are excited to be working with Adventure Pilot. Making SayWeather METARs accessible through the iFly EFB will increase situational awareness, enhance safety, benefit flight planning and add convenience.” 

Juanita Boyd, VP of Operations at Adventure Pilot, commented on the collaboration: "By partnering with SayWeather, we’re able to enhance traditional aviation weather data with real-time, precise updates. This integration provides our users with a comprehensive weather reporting tool, offering METAR-like data at both public and private airports, many of which are typically excluded from FAA data."
