Trevor Jacobs Takes to Skies Again in Narcissistic Non-Apology Video

Trevor Jacob, of "intentionally crashed Taylorcraft for Youtube" fame, recently uploaded a new video to his channel bragging about getting his pilot license back.

In typical fashion for his social-media presence, Jacob started off opaque about exactly what "getting a pilot license back" means, but 7 minutes into the platitude-ridden slog he admits that he has "passed my written and got permission from a CFI to retake my check ride...6/17 this year, I passed my checkride." Passing it means he holds a temporary paper license awaiting the FAA to issue his pilot license once again.

In all likelihood, the FAA will simply refuse to issue the actual pilot license. Jacob's last certificate was revoked in April of 2022, and by law he is entitled to reapply at least a year after that date. Passing his checkride and gaining a temp cert are all legal, whether or not the FAA is required to accept it is a legal choice of their own. Given the fact that the FAA is "currently processing permanent Airmen Certificates for temporary certificates that were issued approximately November 16, 2023," it seems Jacob's license isn't coming any time soon.

The news was met with offense by most of the audience, seeing Jacob's apparently unchanged upscale lifestyle despite his upcoming 6-month prison stint. The handful of felonies he faced in court were eventually reduced down to the brief window in the clink thanks to a plea deal, and his comment sections are filled with confusion at the apparent leniency offered by Uncle Sam. They (quite reasonably) think that purposefully auguring a working aircraft, unannounced, unapproved, and unprepared, into a National Park merits something a bit more harsh than a revoked pilot license and a few months of incarceration... even more so if the FAA would so quickly reissue a fresh pilot cert.
