Five LSA Planes Are FAA-Certified

Just In Time For AirVenture

Five new Light-Sport aircraft have earned their FAA certification -- just in time for next week's AirVenture 2005. They are:

  • The P2004 Bravo, manufactured by Tecnam S.R.L. of Italy and distributed in the U.S. by Hansen AirGroup, Kennesaw, Georgia (www.hansenairgroup.com). The Bravo is an all-metal, tri-gear, high-wing aircraft featuring a tapered, cantilevered wing with a laminar airfoil and side-by-side seating.

  • The Kappa KP-5 manufactured by Jihlavan Airplanes s.r.o. of the Czech Republic and distributed in the U.S. by Kappa Aircraft, Pocono Pines, Pennsylvania (www.kappaaircraft.com). The KP-5 is an all-metal, tri-gear, low-wing aircraft, featuring a high-performance airfoil with Fowler flaps. The aircraft features off-set, side-by-side seating to offer more comfort for pilot and passenger.

  • The Legend Cub, manufactured and distributed in the US by American Legend Aircraft Company, Sulphur Springs, Texas (www.legendaircraftcompany.com). The Legend Cub is re-designed J-3 Cub, incorporating elements of the venerable Cub as well as the Piper PA-11 and Super Cub. The high-wing, fabric-covered aircraft is powered by a Continental O-200 engine.

  • The C42 Ikarus, manufactured by Comco Ikarus of Germany, is a two-place, side-by-side, high-wing, tri-gear aircraft featuring an aluminum tube fuselage and wing structure with composite covering on the fuselage and high-tech fabric on the wings.

  • The Breezer, also manufactured by Comco Ikarus, is a two-place, side-by-side, low-wing, tri-gear aircraft featuring an all-aluminum fuselage and wings.

Look for all five aircraft to be on display in the LSA Mall during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2005. This brings to 12 the number of models of LSA now certificated as S-LSA.
