Robinson Introduces Brand-New R88 Model

All-New Helo Carries Two Pilots, Eight Passengers, And Cargo

Robinson Helicopter Company announced an expanded product line with the introduction of its all-new R88 Model that incorporates the newest Safran Arriel model 950-shp engine. The helicopter is capable of transporting an internal payload of more than 3,000 lbs, has a range of 350 nm, and can remain airborne for more than 3.5 hours.

The R88 is an open-tail rotor design with a two-bladed main rotor. It is powered by the Safran Arriel 2W engine that enables optimum performance with a workhorse payload for a light helicopter. The helicopter has all LED exterior lighting with pulsed landing and taxi lights, tail rotor lighting, entry lights, and scene lighting for enhanced utility and safety.

Large sliding doors provide easy access for cargo and passengers, and there is a fold-down rear door similar to pickup trucks that easily accommodates a HEMS stretcher. The R88 is available with standard skids or high skids that increase ground clearance and are compatible with a firefighting water tank.

The R88 is equipped with an avionics suite that has G500H TXI displays and GTN navigators with touchscreen controls. A standard 4-axis autopilot is available that provides level mode, hover assist, limit cueing, low/high speed protection, and low altitude protection.

The aircraft has a data recording system with Datalink that automatically captures engine and system data and a health usage monitoring system that tracks critical components and provides real-tie track and balance data.

The R88 incorporates dual hydraulics for pitch and roll and dual cyclic controls that are removable on both sides so a single pilot can sit in either seat and have room for a passenger. It will be type-certified for optional single-pilot IFR ops.
