Frontier Airlines To Shed Over 200 Jobs In Milwaukee

Carrier Files Mass Layoff Notice With State Of Wisconsin

It looks like Frontier Airlines is going to shed 213 jobs in Milwaukee, WI, beginning in November, according to documents filed Friday with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

The positions lost come from various Frontier divisions at General Mitchell International Airport (KMKE), indluding the airport maintenance facility and commissary. The Milwaukee Business Journal reports that some of those are union employees who will have "bumping rights" associated with seniority.

Frontier says it plans to reduce departures from KMKE from 67 to 45 daily. Six ERJ-145 regional jets will be idled by the reduction in flights. Non-stop service to Green Bay,MI, Madison, WI, Des Moines, IA, Cleveland and Dayton, OH, and Minneapolis, MN, will be suspended.

KMKE is a main hub for Frontier. The Republic Airways Holdings subsidiary also has a hub in Denver, and a secondary hub in Kansas City.
