Midwest Eclipse Fly-In At Mount Vernon Outland Announced

Upcoming Solar Eclipse to Provide Rare Vistas Next April

Mt. Vernon Outland Airport, KMVN in Mt Vernon, Illinois, will be the home of the Midwest MVN Eclipse Homecoming, a free airshow at the LSA Expo Fave.

The town sits smack dab in the middle of the total solar eclipse that will take place on April 8, 2024, when the moon blots out the sun for a brief 4-minute window. Mt Vernon locals invited “all Midwest LSA Expo attendees, Airventure Cup, Air Race Classic racers, KR, Ercoupe, Fly-Baby Builders & Flyers, Bonnie Aviator Club members, CAA members” and locals to attend. Even better for prospective attendees, “all the amenities of your previous visits will remain”, like “free admission, free camping, free parking, and free shuttles between the field and local hotels.” Food and fuel discounts will be extended by the local Bonnie Café and SRT Aviation.

The Bonnie seats 200 diners at once, and SRT’s discounts will apply to 100LL and Jet A fuel orders, making it a fine time to attend for anyone looking for a fun and affordable flight mission. For those who want to stick around to make a day out of it, the Mt. Vernon Outland airport has a museum and Wall of Honor on site to show the contributions of townsfolk throughout the world’s conflicts. The nearby Jefferson County Historical Village can round out the day, too.
