Last Hurrahs Planned At Fantasy Of Flight

Splash In, Mustang Events Will Precede Closure As A Public Attraction

Fantasy of Flight in central Florida will be closing its doors to the public April 6th, but the aviation-themed attraction has two final events planned as something of a last hurrah; the Sun 'n Fun Splash-In on April 3 and the Mustangs & Mustangs showcase on April 5.

The Splash-In has been an annual event held in conjunction with the spring fly-in at Lakeland-Linder airport nearby. It will feature seaplanes and amphibs at Lake Agnes, which is on the Fantasy of Flight property. A highlight of the event will be the Benoist Flying Boat replica, which the airplane's builders had hoped would fly back in January for the 100th anniversary of the world’s first commercial flight.

A few days later on the 5th, the attraction's final weekend will include the 17th annual Mustangs & Mustangs Plane and Auto Show, featuring classic airplanes and classic cars.

Tampa Bay Online reports that Fantasy of Flight owner Kermit Weeks said in a written statement that the attraction is expecting "record attendance" for the final week of operations.

While the attraction will be closing to the public, it will continue to be available as a venue for private events.
