AIR Avionics is Coming to America

German Firm Jumps in with AIR Com, Control Display, & Traffic

AIR Avionics, a German firm focused on compact and lightweight avionics, formally announced its entry into the U.S. market.

To start, they’ll be focusing on a trio of their “signature innovations”, including the AIR Com, “The smallest fully TSO-certified aircraft radio in the world;” the “AIR Control Display, An intuitive multifunction display designed for seamless operation;” and the “AIR Traffic: A comprehensive situational awareness and traffic warning system.” AIR Avionics said they will rely on Mid Continent Instruments and Avionics for all their U.S. distribution and support, making them the sole Authorized Service Partner for AIR gear stateside.

All AIR Avionics products are designed and manufactured in-house at one of two locations in Southwestern Germany. That makes them fairly nimble, since everything from concepts and prototyping to mass production is vertically integrated under one roof. Most of their gear will fit in nicely with Light Sport, Experimental aircraft here, being compact and light. The AIR Com is already compatible with common LSA PFDs like the G3X or SkyView, making it an easier integration than one may think at first glance.

“Our mission at AIR Avionics is to make flying simpler, more intuitive, and above all, safer,” said Marc Förderer, COO of AIR Avionics. “Fueled by our passion for aviation, we design and build products for pilots — by pilots. This partnership now lets us bring those products to the U.S. aviation community, supported by Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics’ unmatched technical expertise.”
“This collaboration allows us to offer our customers access to AIR Avionics’ remarkable product line,” said Van Winter, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics. “We’re proud to serve as the exclusive U.S. service partner and to support AIR Avionics’ expansion with the level of technical care and responsiveness that both our companies are known for.”
