DART Fire Attack System Selected for Kawasaki H145

Japan Aerospace Corp. Selects DART Aero for Certification Process

DART Aerospace has been selected to assist in the certification for a new Fire Attack system for the 5-bladed version of the license-produced H145.

Japan Aerospace Corporation and Kawasaki Heavy Industries will assist in the joint effort to finalize the installation of the firefighting equipment on the Japanese-produced H145. DART will complete the modifications on Kawasaki's version of the helicopter, adding their 311GII system with its attendant equipment. The lightweight, belly-mounted fire fighting suite adds a 240-gallon main tank and 14-gallon foam tank, as well as a 10-foot, 5-inch hover pump with a 450 gallon/minute pump. The end result is a light, maneuverable, and reliable system for Japanese customers operating the H145/BK117D-3. In the United States, the H145 Fire Attack system is expected to be certified by the end of 2022, with Japanese civil aviation certification to follow.

“This agreement not only creates opportunities for new markets that operate this high performing aircraft,  but it also expands DART’s portfolio of products to another popular aircraft model,” says Steve Ghaleb,  vice president of sales at DART Aerospace. “This is another example of DART’s longstanding history of partnerships  with our clients to collaboratively find solutions for their missions.”

“We are excited to work together with DART for a fire attack system solution that serves our  H145//BK117D-3 customers in Japan,” said Hiroshi Kuramae, president and CEO of Japan Aerospace Corporation. “DART systems are popular here and this new addition will help that popularity grow with a new set of customers.”
