NBAA '04: Overseas Ground Transportation Security Of Utmost Importance

Air Security International chief warns operators not to take it for granted

Organizations doing business overseas today are not taking ground transportation for granted like they once did.

"This year, the topic of ground transportation and support for an organization's employees traveling overseas has become a major point of discussion amongst travel and security departments," said Issy Boim, president of Air Security International (ASI), worldwide provider of intelligence, security and support services.  "Corporations are becoming much more involved with briefing their employees on what type of transportation should be used to ensure the safety of their travelers."

According to Boim, this past year ASI has arranged for more ground transportation of corporate passengers and crewmembers worldwide than ever before. The most dramatic increase however, is in the transport of mid-level management flying on commercial aircraft.

Boim said he points out to his clients that it is not necessary to have a full executive protection detail in most locations. In many instances a vetted driver who has been trained in preventive security concepts and evasive driving techniques is sufficient.

"Clients want to know that a driver has been vetted and that he will comply with strict security measures that will ensure the avoidance of choke points and potentially dangerous situations, such as carjackings, ambushes and other criminal activity while driving to a destination," Boim said. "They also want to know in advance of the trip the driver's name and cellphone number, the vehicle's make, color, license plate number, and the designated meeting area before the driver and vehicle arrives."

Through a network of vetted transportation providers, ASI can reserve a variety of vehicles, such as town cars, sedans, vans, motor coaches, limousines and armored vehicles with drivers that suit the needs of the individual traveler and requirement criteria set forth by their corporation.

"With business people now traveling to many out-of-the-way locations overseas, corporate flight departments are being tasked with pushing the envelope further than ever before - they know they need to support their people by finding secure ground transportation services," Boim said.

Today, ASI's ground transportation services, including driver and executive security services, are available throughout the world.
