Avidyne Extends European MLX770 Approval To Pressurized Planes

Now OK'd For King Airs, PA-46s, PC-12s

Avidyne announced Monday it recently received Minor Change Approval (MCA) from the European Aviation Safety Agency for installation of their MLX770 two-way datalink transceiver into pressurized aircraft.

The avionics manufacturer previously received EASA approval for MLX770 installations in unpressurized metal and composite aircraft in Europe, as well as a full Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval with an Approved Model List covering over 700 aircraft models of N-registered aircraft.

"The strategic weather and two-way communication benefits of the MLX770 are equally valuable for single-engine piston aircraft all the way up through pressurized turboprop-class and light turbofan aircraft," said Avidyne Chief Operating Officer, Patrick Herguth. "As we have completed our final approval hurdles, we can now install and provide the safety enhancements of the MLX770 on virtually any Part 23 aircraft in the world."

The MLX770 brings comprehensive worldwide datalink weather services to the general aviation market, and is initially designed to interface with Avidyne’s EX500 and Entegra systems.

Avidyne is also working with third-party display and Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) manufacturers to develop interface compatibility for future installations in Part 25 twin turbo-prop and turbofan jet aircraft. Introductory pricing for the MLX770 is $11,995 USD including antenna.
