Flight Crew Protects Trainee From Pilot Stalker

FedEx Pilot Follows Woman Onto a Delta Flight From Toronto to Atlanta

A woman traveling with Delta was reportedly being followed to Atlanta by another passenger who used to be a pilot for the airline. The flight crew was able to contact dispatch and help her get out of the airport safely.

The flight involved was Delta Airlines 2835 from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in Georgia. It was flown on a Boeing 737-800.

According to flight deck audio, the woman was going to Atlanta to complete Delta’s indoctrination and flight training. This is a two-week program that introduces new pilots to the airline’s policies and operational procedures.

Another passenger on the flight was a former Delta Airlines pilot who now flies for FedEx. During his time with Delta, he gained access to the exact locations where the indoctrination program is held and the hotels that are used for trainees.

The two landing on the same flight was no coincidence. The female trainee stated that the FedEx pilot has been stalking and harassing her since September 2024. The crew also noted that he tried and failed to switch up the flight’s seating arrangement so she would sit next to him on the plane. Luckily, this familiarity allowed her to identify the man to the flight crew and ask for assistance.

After hearing her concerns, the flight deck contacted dispatch to request security and an escort on the ground. The crew planned to keep her on board during initial deplaning and have her exit with them.

Though the crew didn’t see a need to involve law enforcement or apprehend the man, they asked dispatch to have a “red coat” customer service agent meet them at the gate.

Since the FedEx pilot had a ticket for the flight, checking his identity with the manifest was relatively simple. However, this is not always the case. In August, a family of four was followed through the Washington Dulles International Airport onto a Delta flight to Atlanta. They reported the man to flight attendants, who eventually booted him from the flight since he did not have a ticket. He was not charged.
