JetBlue Pilots Re-Elect ALPA Leadership

Contract Negotiations With Airline Management Continue

Voting members of the JetBlue Master Executive Council (MEC) of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l re-elected by acclamation their union leadership for the 4,700-plus pilots of JetBlue.

Capt. Wayne Scales, Capt. Brian Dirlam, and Capt. Jason Mauk were re-elected as MEC chairman, vice chairman, and secretary-treasurer, respectively, for two-year terms that begin November 1, 2025.

Capt. Wayne Scales, MEC Chairman:  is based in Boston and has been MEC chairman since September 2024. He joined JetBlue in 2013 after stints at Trans States Airlines and Virgin America. Scales previously served as MEC vice chairman, Communications Committee chairman, and Strategic Preparedness and Strike Committee chairman.

Capt. Brian Dirlam, MEC Vice Chairman:  has been MEB vice chairman since September 2024 and is also based in Boston. He previously served as a local council representative and secretary-treasurer for the Boston base and has been a member of the Grievance and Pilot-to-Pilot Committees. Prior to Joining JetBLue in 2007, he flew for Pinnacle Airlines.

Capt. Jason Mauk, MEC Secretary-Treasurer:  is based in Los Angeles and has been MEC Secretary-Treasurer since September 2024. Before joining JetBlue in 2003, he flew for Comair. Mauk previously served on the Pilot-to-Pilot Committee and was a local council secretary-treasurer. He assisted on the organizing drives to bring the JetBlue pilot group into ALPA.

Capt. Scales commented, “It is an honor to serve JetBlue pilots as MEC chairman. As we look ahead, our contract negotiations are in the second year, while the Company continues to delay at the table. However, through the unity, commitment, and professionalism of every JetBlue pilot, we will achieve the contract that properly recognizes the contributions of JetBlue pilots to the success of the Company.”
