Aero-TV: 5 Pounds In A 2 Pound Bag? - Belite’s Capable Light Sport Instruments

Digitizing Your Cockpit Doesn’t Have To Break The Bank...

It’s common to think of digitized aircraft instruments as being part of a complex package of capabilities that carries a price tag to match the complexity. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way, and ANN’s News Editor, Tom Patton will show us a way to digitize through small lightweight instruments that give you just what you want to know.

While at the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo 2015, Tom stopped to talk with Jim Wiebe, the CEO of BeLite Aircraft. Yes, this is the same company that produces the BeLite line of ultralight aircraft, but Wiebe also produces a line of light-weight, digitized single-purpose instruments for ultralights, light sport aircraft, and experimental aircraft.

Wiebe starts off by showing Tom his version of a fuel gauge. The easy to install system provides the quantity information you expect, but it also gives you fuel flow, fuel remaining, and other information that’s critical for range planning. Wiebe says the advantage of his instruments is features, expense, size and weight. As you watch the video, Wiebe demonstrates the various instruments and you’ll be amazed to see that the weight of these instruments is measured in grams.

Watch this video to see how digitizing your cockpit doesn’t have to break the bank.
