Cirrus Launches Standardized Training for CFIs

Another Solid Commitment To Safety

One of the major news items that will be discussed today at the 2003 AOPA Expo is yet another progressive move by Cirrus Design to present the proper tools for flyers to use in not only learning to fly their airplanes, but to maintain a proper level of proficiency. Cirrus is announcing the Cirrus Standardized Instructor Program (CSIP) for certified flight instructors. The training program was developed in concert with UND Aerospace, the factory flight training provider for Cirrus. The new standardized program is designed to educate flight instructors in the instructional techniques of operating and instructing students in the technologically advanced Cirrus.

New Cirrus owners complete transition training with a UND Aerospace instructor after taking delivery of their aircraft.  However, as the Cirrus fleet continues to grow at a rapid pace, the pre-owned Cirrus market will also experience increasing activity. Consequently, availability of skilled training will be essential in order to smoothly transition new Cirrus pilots from less sophisticated aircraft into the technologically improved Cirrus platforms.

Alan Is SERIOUS....

"Safety is one of the cornerstones on which Cirrus is founded," stated Alan Klapmeier, president of Cirrus.

"Our commitment to safety extends beyond the aircraft to include the pilot so we've developed this program to help Cirrus pilots remain proficient whether they purchased their aircraft new or pre-owned." Developing a Standardized Instructor Program that focuses on the skill set required to operate a technologically advance aircraft means that all Cirrus pilots have greater access to standardized transitional flight training from regional instructors and authorized training centers.

Although the program is officially being launched this week, an excess of 50 training centers and/or individual instructors have expressed interest in the valuable program.  The first group of Cirrus Standardized Instructors has already been trained and are available in the following cities: Phoenix, AZ, Atlanta, GA, Kennesaw, GA, Worchester, MA, Duluth, MN, Grand Forks, ND and Spokane, WA.
