Piper's 75th Anniversary Vero Beach Fly-in Taking Shape

Invitation-Only Event To Feature Aircraft Displays, Facility Tours, And More

Piper Aircraft and the Piper Cub's year-long 75th anniversary celebration will culminate with a gala customer fly-in in Vero Beach, FL, Nov. 9-11. The invitation-only weekend features a welcome reception, vendor exhibits, aircraft static display, customer awards, facility tours, a history lesson from Piper's official historian, a Piper meet-up and send-off pancake breakfast.

"This celebration is taking on a life of its own," says Piper President and CEO Simon Caldecott. "Industry sponsors have been lining up as have political leaders, and the aviation media. We've already received well over 40 aircraft reservations for the fly-in, which will feature Piper airplanes all the way from the Piper Cub to today's M-Class aircraft. We expect many more to commit as we get closer to the event itself."

More than twenty companies will be exhibiting their services and products at the fly-in and a number of companies are pitching in to help sponsor the weekend celebration.

Piper has been celebrating its history all year long through advertising and several other events. Over 100 Piper Cubs turned the EAA AirVenture 2012 Oshkosh flightline into a "field of yellow" as aviation's largest gathering celebrated the iconic aircraft's 75th anniversary. Piper Cub owners participated in the EAA fly-in and have been an integral part of the on-going celebration.

Additionally, lucky winner Jeff Parnau has taken delivery of a restored 1940 Piper J-3 Cub ... the grand prize in the 2012 EAA Win-the-Cub Sweepstakes. The editor-at-large at World Airshow News magazine, Parnau has a flight school in Wisconsin. His Cub, which commemorated the 75th anniversary of the famous taildragger, has accumulated less than 100 hours since a complete airframe restoration and overhaul of its Continental A-65-8 engine. Restored to original condition, the airplane includes factory wheelpants, TrickAir Sport 1500 snow skis, sealed struts, Slick magnetos, and a 12-gallon wing tank.
