Former Army Warrant Officer Kodey Bogart Debuts New Book

Bogart Introduced Her Next Book in the “Helo Girls” Series at her AirVenture Book Signing

With stories drawn from real-life medevac missions and a mission to inspire the next generation, Kodey Bogart, former U.S. Army Blackhawk pilot and founder of “Helo Girls,” is returning to AirVenture with her signature message, “Empowering young minds, one book at a time,” and an upcoming book.

“Helo Girls” is an interactive book series that teaches kids about safety and teamwork through helicopter adventures. Her third book will follow an East African air ambulance pilot named Zuri which means ‘lovely’ in Swahili.

“I want readers to relate with every girl, so I want every girl, when they look at one of the books, to see themselves,” said Bogart.

Bogart is a former United States Army warrant officer and aviator who flew the Blackhawk helicopter during medical evacuation missions. During her time in combat, she received 2 Air Medals and a Sikorsky Rescue Award. Bogart is seasoned in aviation safety, flight training, maintenance, helicopter air ambulance, and aviation law enforcement. She is also the first female to be designated as pilot in command for day, night, and night vision goggle operations in combat for the Florida Army National Guard.

The book signing drew a large crowd, with EAA’s GirlVenture Camp, an aviation experience for young women during AirVenture, making up the majority of those eagerly waiting for an autograph from Bogart. “It was wonderful to see, especially being all girls. It’s really enlightening. It shows me that what I do has a purpose,” said Bogart.

The first 200 people received a free copy of her most recent book, “Helo Girls: The Law Enforcement Pilot”. The book should be released by the end of 2025 or early 2026, just in time for Heli Expo: the largest helicopter exhibit in the world.

Bogart urges girls in aviation to “Just take that one step forward and follow whatever your dream is.”
