All Lancair Models Covered Under The Plan
The Lancair Owners & Builders Organization announced Tuesday
it has achieved a major milestone in helping Lancair owners obtain
aircraft insurance. Following a careful review, Chartis Aerospace
Insurance Services has accepted LOBO-developed Initial and
Recurrent flight training programs to meet its insurance
requirements for all models of the Lancair kit plane.
“The LOBO team designed custom Lancair flight training
syllabi as part of our larger goal to promote Lancair safety
through education and training,” said LOBO President, Jeff
Edwards. “Working with the FAA and a team of
highly-qualified, highly-skilled professional flight instructors
intimately familiar with Lancair aircraft, we created and published
Initial and Recurrent training programs for Lancair aircraft
including the popular Legacy and IV."
All of LOBO’s training curricula are based on FAA/Industry
Training Standards (FITS) criteria. FITS is a partnership between
the FAA and aviation industry training experts designed to improve
and enhance flight training in the general aviation community. FITS
encourages scenario-based flight training focused on aeronautical
decision making, risk management and single-pilot resource
management skills.
“In keeping with FITS philosophies, LOBO’s training
goes far beyond teaching only the stick and rudder skills needed to
meet minimum Practical Test Standards. Using the specialized
techniques and methods integral to FITS, LOBO’s training
prepares pilots to competently and safely handle the challenges
they will experience in real-world flying,” said Mr.
Edwards.

“We are very pleased with the detail contained within the
syllabus and that LOBO has attained FAA FITS acceptance,”
said Ray Stanton, Director of Safety and Loss Control Services,
Chartis Aerospace Insurance Services. “All the members of the
Chartis Aerospace team are pleased with LOBO’s
accomplishment.”
