Bombardier Jets To Feature Pro Line Fusion, Primary Flight
Control Computers
Rockwell Collins’ Pro Line Fusion avionics system and
Primary Flight Control Computer (PFCC) have been selected for the
Bombardier Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft, both of which
feature the Global Vision flight deck.
“This announcement is a testament to how the
industry-leading capabilities and flexibility of Pro Line Fusion
make it the right solution for a wide range of platforms, including
the highest level of business aircraft,” said Greg Irmen,
vice president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems
for Rockwell Collins. “Pro Line Fusion brings flight deck
commonality, along with numerous industry-first capabilities to the
Global family of aircraft, offering unprecedented levels of safety,
situational awareness and efficiency.”
The Pro Line Fusion configuration selected by Bombardier for the
Global 7000 and Global 8000 business jets includes the following
standard features:
- An empowering, eyes-forward human interface featuring the first
and only synthetic vision on the head-up display, as well as
enhanced vision.
- Four high-resolution 15-inch diagonal LCD displays, the largest
head-down displays available in the industry, that work in concert
with Rockwell Collins’ HGS-6000 Head-Up Guidance Systems
(HGS).
- Rockwell Collins’ award-winning MultiScan Threat
Detection System, which provides optimal, clutter-free weather
information that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and
passenger comfort by minimizing unexpected turbulence
encounters.
- User-friendly graphical flight planning capability and dual
Integrated Flight Information Systems (IFIS) with electronic charts
and enhanced maps that reduce pilot workload.
- The latest technologies to accommodate future airspace
requirements, including Aeronautical Telecommunications Network
(ATN) and Future Air Navigation System Controller-Pilot Data Link
Communication (FANS CPDLC); triple Advanced Flight Management
Systems with Wide Area Augmentation System Localizer Performance
with Vertical Guidance (WAAS/LPV) and Required Navigation
Performance (RNP) capabilities; and a Traffic Surveillance System
with Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B)
capabilities.
The Rockwell Collins PFCC is a core component of the fly-by-wire
system featured on the Global 7000 and Global 8000 business jets.
It commands the aircraft during flight via electronic signal to the
aircraft control surface actuators rather than traditional
mechanical means. This allows for the introduction of a range of
computer controlled enhancements to benefit the pilot, passenger
and operator.
The patented Rockwell Collins PFCC allows hosting of the most
critical level aircraft functions and provides an enabling platform
to execute complex aircraft flight control laws, optimize aircraft
fuel efficiency and enhance overall passenger ride comfort. The
PFCC’s inherent redundant design characteristics and safety
features offer the highest availability for these ultra-long-range
mission aircraft. Pro Line Fusion was certified in June on the
Global 6000* ultra-long-range business aircraft. The system has
been selected for 11 announced aircraft platforms across the
business aviation, commercial air transport and military market
segments.
