USAF T-38 Talon Down In Mississippi

Pilots Reportedly Eject Safely From The Aircraft

A U.S. Air Force T-38 Talon training aircraft has gone down in Mississippi, the Air Force has confirmed.

Media reports indicate that the airplane was based at Columbus Air Force Base. The two pilots on board the aircraft ejected safely.

The aircraft was operating out of Columbus AFB, and went down near the base, according to Fox News. The pilots were transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

The accident ignited a fire at the scene. It was reportedly extinguished by first responders. There were no buildings, either residential or commercial, in the area where the plane went down.

This is the fifth non-combat aviation accident recorded by the Air Force in 2018. In 2017, there were only seven such accidents the entire year, according to the report.
