COPA Elects New Board Members

Six New, Two Returning Members Round Out Slate

The Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) announced the election of eight members to its Board of Directors. Six are new to the role while two have been on the board- one a former chair and the other a current member.

COPA is a non-profit organization founded in 1952 that serves as a unified voice for general aviation (GA) in Canada. It is the largest aviation association of its kind in the country and fulfills a role very similar to that of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) in the U.S. with its support and advocacy for GA and personal (non-airline) pilots across all aspects of aviation and at all levels of government.

The newly-elected board members are:

  • Robert Japp, Director for Alberta and the Northwest Territories
  • Candace Pardo, Director for Saskatchewan
  • Becky Dueck, Director for Manitoba and Nunavut
  • Grant Bailey, Secretary of the Board and Director for Northern Ontario
  • Stephen Wilcox, Director for Southern Ontario
  • Dr. Stephen McCarthy, 2nd term Director for Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick
  • Robert Hammond, Director for Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick
  • Bill Mahoney, Past Chair and Director for Newfoundland and Labrador

The new board members will replace outgoing members Jim Bell, Brian Pinsent, David Sprague, Henry Vos, and Ken Zachkewich.
