Boeing Order Book Swells In Third Quarter

Lands 182 Orders During The Quarter, Reports Record Deliveries

Boeing is still the world's largest aircraft manufacturer based on third quarter data released recently by the company, but Airbus continues to win more orders this year.

Boeing put 182 new commercial aircraft on the books during the third quarter of 2015, and so far this year, the company has delivered 580 aircraft. Deliveries are led by the 737, with 375 new airplanes delivered since January.

Reuters reports that Airbus has delivered 446 airplanes in the same period, but has been taking orders faster than Boeing. Boeing has 447 net orders for the first nine months of the year, compared to 815 for Airbus, according to the report.

Boeing has forecast that it will deliver 750 airplanes during 2015. Airbus has not given a firm estimate, but says it will deliver a few more than the 626 that went to customers in 2014.

Both planemakers have announced production increases in an effort to keep up with demand over the next eight to 10 years.
