Exploring Cockpit Applications For Google Glass

Beta Tester Looking For Online Funding To Help In Evaluation

A young woman who was invited to be part of the Google Glass Explorers program hopes to find ways that the wearable internet interface can be used in the cockpits of airplanes ... and she's asking for help from the public.

Sarah Hanlon has established a presence on the crowdfuding site "gofundme" to raise enough money to buy a Google Glass device. She writes that she was "excited" to be invited to be a part of the program, but had "overlooked" the fact that each participant would be required to buy their own device.

Hanlon is trying to raise $3,000 for the effort. The money would go toward the $1,500 price tag of the Google glasses, as well as to "fund any flights that must be made in order to test it," and other expenses, she says. Hanlon writes that she already has "quite a few ideas" about potential applications, including checklists, airport information, weather, and other situational awareness data.
