Penn College Aviation Program Receives Donation From Lycoming

Fifteen Engines Provided To The School For Use By Students

Lycoming Engines has donated 15 new engines to Penn College for use by the school's aviation program.

College officials told television station WNEP that the engines currently used by the program are more than 20 years old. The new engines will give students an opportunity to learn on powerplants that are more like what they will see when they enter the workforce.

The engines are valued at more than $315,000. Chris Gayman, a supervisor of product support for Lycoming Engines, is a graduate of Penn College. There are more than 100 Penn College graduates currently working for Lycoming, according to the report.

Gayman helped secure the donation for the school. He said that Penn College "is a good partner and we know we can trust them with all this stuff and it goes to good use."

The engines will be available for students when they return this fall.
