Five Fatally Injured In CA Accident

Cessna 414 Impacted A House In Yorba Linda

A Cessna 414 went down Sunday in a residential neighborhood in Yorba Linda in southern California, resulting in five fatalities and two additional injuries, according to authorities.

Fox News reports that the airplane impacted a home in a residential neighborhood Sunday about 1:45 p.m. local time after taking off from Fullerton Municipal Airport, which is located about 10 nautical miles west of the accident scene.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, the male pilot was the only person on board the airplane when it went down. Four people inside the home died in the post-impact fire. No names or ages were immediately released.

The airplane impacted the second story of the house, causing the fire. One of the engines of the plane separated from the main wreckage and fell into the street, according to NTSB investigator Eliot Simpson.

The fuselage of the airplane came to rest in the backyard of a home near the one that was struck by the aircraft. Debris was reportedly strewn across rooftops and driveways throughout the neighborhood.

Rain from a winter storm helped firefighters extinguish the house fire.
