Chelton Flight Systems Upgrades EFIS

Introduces Version 5.0a Software

Developing improvements and upgrades to their existing product line is keeping the R&D people at Chelton Flight Systems almost as busy as they were prior to certification. Hence, the new software for their EFIS units, Version 5.0A, includes a list of over 130 changes. Of those, 35 will be conspicuous to pilots familiar with existing systems. Some of the features added to the new version include enhanced VNAV functions, flight planning using Victor airways and Jet routes, colorized airspace on the moving map display which shows Restricted or Prohibited airspace as red, MOA’s and Warning areas as yellow, Class B as blue, and Class C and D as green.

2004 COMM1 Aviation Scholarship Program Announced

e-publishing group has announced the Fourth Annual COMM1 Aviation Scholarship Program for the 2004-2005 flying season. These scholarships represent funding to assist young aspiring aviators with the training required to pursue a career in aviation and to help defray tuition and flight training expenses. The Annual COMM1 Aviation Scholarship Program is at the core of an ongoing series of efforts by the developers of COMM1 Radio Simulators to raise awareness about the importance of pilot communications proficiency at all levels of flight training.

Purdue University Student Awarded GAMA Scholarship

WOW! SECOND Cirrus BRS Save in 36 Hours!

A Cirrus SR 22 experiencing "mechanical difficulties" deployed a BRS Emergency parachute recovery system in southern Florida at 1000 Saturday morning. The aircraft was occupied by a single pilot, Jeffrey Ippoliti (41), of Celebration FL. Ippoliti is described as a high-time Cirrus pilot with a "lot" of experience. His destination was Palm Beach International Airport.
