EASA has approved Cirrus Aircraft's Known Ice
Protection system for FIKI operations. Earlier this year, FAA
approval was granted and new aircraft equipped with the optional
system - both normally aspirated and TURBO piston aircraft - have
been shipping to customers since January of 2009.
For those of us who have "hit the boots" (or the equivalent
system on your favorite bird) a few times in the last few days due
to the ever-present seasonal 'charms' of in-flight icing, we
thought a series of short tips from Cirrus Design's Scott Winter
(yes, that IS his real name) might help us all to consider some of
the realities of this time of year. So... here is the sixth of
seven tips for dealing with icing. Y'all be careful out there!
In a move that puts in place a fundamental
building block of NextGen, the FAA has finalized the industry-wide
TSOs for ADS-B. The ADS-B infrastructure is the backbone of NextGen
and underpins government and industry efforts to reduce air traffic
delays and realize environmental benefits.
Teledyne Continental Motors (TCM) tells ANN the Cylinder Recall
MSB09-1B will be complete effective December 31, 2009, meaning full
warranty coverage on the cylinders under this recall will end on
that date.
