An interesting bit of history occurred recently as an unmanned vehicle transported a human kidney that was eventually transplanted into a human being. The milestone took place last week, as the organ was delivered to a hospital via a drone and subsequently transplanted into a University of Maryland Medical Center patient -- apparently, the first time such an event has occurred. Transplant surgeon Dr. Joseph Scalea, was reportedly inspired to conduct such an attempt due to the immense costs and issues currently incurred in organ transportation, over the course of several years of study. A drone manufacturer is seeking an FAA waiver for operation of an unmanned aircraft weighing more than 55 pound
