Lewis University Offers ‘Sky’s the Limit’ Program

‘Sky’s the Limit’ Is An Aviation Camp For Female High School Students Promoted By The WAI

Lewis University and Chicago’s Leading Edge, a chapter of Women in Aviation International, are hosting the fourth annual “Sky’s the Limit” aviation career camp for female high school students from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. May 2 in the Harold White Aviation Center, located on the university’s main campus in Romeoville.

Women in Aviation International is dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation career fields and interests. Members of the organization include astronauts, airline pilots, corporate pilots, maintenance technicians, air traffic controllers, business owners, educators, journalists, flight attendants, high school and university students, air show performers, airport managers, enthusiasts and many others.

The free interactive aviation camp is designed to inspire young females to develop an interest in aviation. The aviation camps events will allow participants to:

  • Fly a flight simulator
  • Preflight a Cessna 172 and explore a 737 aircraft
  • Experiment with aerodynamics and learn about flight training
  • Discover career paths in aviation
  • Tour the Lewis maintenance hangar with vintage airplanes

‘Sky’s the Limit’ program enrollment will be taken until April 27.

Lewis University is a Catholic university in the Lasallian tradition offering distinctive undergraduate and graduate programs to more than 6,700 traditional and adult students. The seventh largest private not-for-profit university in Illinois, Lewis has been nationally recognized by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.
