Kenya Aviation Industry To Hold Conference

GE will sponsor event meant to try to find ways to save the country's floundering airlines

In another attempt to try and save the country's airline and aviation industry, and as a direct result of an IATA/IATF reportt that listed the training needs of executives working in African airlines, Kenya is holding another international aviation concerence in Nariobi starting October 7. The skyrocketing price of fuel is being largely blamed for the inability of the industry to break out of a spiraling cycle of losses.

The General Electric Company will be sponsoring the event, which comes barely a few months after the Aviation And Allied Business Leadership Conference held in June.  This time, the goal appears to be providing training in financial abilities to CEO's and CFO's from the continent.

The two-day conference will cover such topics as finance measurements, corporate governance, analysis of management processes, and the prevention of fraud, according to Nairobi's East African Standard. The conference will also host representatives from the Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA), African Airlines Association, International Airline Transport Association (IATA) and International Airline Training Fund (IATF).
