Carlsbad Jet Center Open For Business

Joins Avfuel-Branded Network

Avfuel welcomes Carlsbad Jet Center—the new independent FBO at the McClellan-Palomar Airport (KCRQ) — to its network of branded FBOs.
Under new ownership and management, which replaced Magellan Aviation, Carlsbad Jet Center began operations on January 18, 2019, under the esteemed leadership of Josh and Julia Hochberg—owners of Sonoma Jet Center (KSTS). With their guidance, the team at Sonoma Jet Center has earned an exceptional reputation for safety, customer service and community involvement. Carlsbad Jet Center will be run with that same dedication to safety, customers and community.

Although the management team is changing hands to this experienced duo, Carlsbad Jet Center customers will be welcomed by the same familiar smiling faces they’re accustomed to as the staff stays on board.

"We’re excited to step in and lead this team," said Josh Hochberg. "Our Carlsbad Jet Center staff has established a great rapport with many existing customers and we’re looking forward to building on that, focusing on standard-setting customer care and safety. Our priority is to provide our customers with seamless operations and teamwork to ensure our customers, their aircraft and their passengers are happy and well taken care of. Our promise to them is to adhere to our corporate values of safety, customer, community, teamwork and innovation through this transitional period and beyond, providing regular, honest and candid communication."

The FBO’s management team already has a plan in place to improve upon the operation’s professionalism with NATA Safety 1st training and working toward IS-BAH certification, just as the Hochbergs have done at their Sonoma Jet Center location.  Furthermore, the FBO’s new operator plans to finish construction on the long-awaited FBO terminal. Toward this end, Carlsbad Jet Center has already retained key personnel to see the development through to completion.

The 10,000 square foot facility will offer all the modern amenities to which general aviation customers have become accustomed, including leasable office space, a conference room, a pilot lounge and passenger waiting areas. This addition will bring Carlsbad Jet Center facilities to more than 180,000 square feet of hangar and office space. "It’s going to be a beautiful facility—and it’s about 80 percent there," said Hochberg. "We are excited to offer our customers a premier experience in a state-of-the-art facility at McClellan-Palomar Airport to provide the complete customer-oriented experience: excellent services in a first-class facility."

Carlsbad Jet Center offers operators convenient access to Southern California attractions—including beautiful beaches, surfing, resorts and golf courses—and bustling business within 15 minutes of its operation. The FBO boasts the most private location on the airport with quick access off the runway and such offerings as hangar space, full fuel services and ground handling.
