NBAA Call For Nominations

2005 NBAA Meritorious Service To Aviation And Doswell Awards

The NBAA says it is now accepting nominations for its two most prestigious awards, the Meritorious Service to Aviation Award and the John P. "Jack" Doswell Award. Nominations for both awards are due by February 25, 2005. The 2005 award winners will be officially recognized at the Annual Gala of the NBAA 58th Annual Meeting & Convention in November 2005.

First presented in 1950, the NBAA Award for Meritorious Service to Aviation is one of the aviation industry's most prestigious honors. It is given to those individuals who, by virtue of a lifetime of personal dedication, have made significant identifiable contributions that have materially advanced aviation interests. Such contributions do not necessarily have to be confined to the field of business aviation. NBAA has presented the Meritorious Service Award almost every year since its creation. Recent recipients of the Meritorious Service Award include Stuart Matthews (2004), Sam B. Williams (2003) and James D. Raisbeck (2002).

In 1987, NBAA created the Doswell Award to honor high standards for lifelong individual achievement on behalf and in support of the aims, goals and objectives of business aviation. Recent recipients of the Doswell Award include Allan B. Lane (2004), Byron M. "Skip" Reed II (2003) and J. Robert Duncan (2002).

All nominations mailed to NBAA should include the following material:

  • A letter from the nominator introducing the nominee and explaining why he or she is eligible. This document serves as the nominator's letter of reference.
  • The nominee's professional biography and/or resume describing the nominee's education, employment, accomplishments and honors.
  • Any supporting documents, including copies of press clippings, publications and articles related to the nominee.
  • Additional letters of reference from persons other than the nominator are optional.

Nominations should be mailed to the following address postmarked by February
25, 2005:
