First US Panthera Readies For Flight

Right Rudder Aviation Is Looking Forward To Demonstrating New 4-Place Hotrod

Things are about to heat up again in Florida... in a really good way.

Pipistrel-USA dealer, Right Rudder Aviation, has just taken delivery of a new Pipistrel Panthera high-performance four place aircraft -- the first of its kind in all of North America. Right Rudder Aviation is an FBO/Flight School/Aircraft Dealer based at the Inverness Airport (KINF) in Inverness, FL.

The Panthera is one of the curviest aircraft to hit the scene in quite the while -- and a potential Cirrus killer. A composite (much of it carbon-fiber) four-place with tricycle retractable gear, a T-Tail, and an all-glass panel, the basics of this aircraft boast 1000NM range, 200 kts and at 10GPH. It has a full-fuel payload of 760 pounds. An airframe parachute system is part of the package.

Other intriguing stats include the ability to climb at 1200 FPM, get off the ground in 1200 feet and land in 1900 feet (over a 50' obstacle). Stall speeds start at 64 kts, clean, and wind down to 59 knots with flaps and gear extended.

While the first aircraft comes with a Lycoming IO-540, two other versions scheduled for the future will utilize electric or hybrid powerplant configurations.

Despite the factory being located in Slovenia and not all that accomplished when it comes to communications, the US Pipistrel population is expertly supported by Pipistrel-USA's Mike Coates, one of the best we've worked with. The current aircraft will be operated as an experimental-exhibition class aircraft, but certification is planned for the future.

We've been promised an early shot at a flight test and we don't need to be asked twice... we'll let you know when that takes place.
